About Azusa for Clean Water
We are a faith-based group that is dedicated to raising money and awareness to support clean water organizations working in developing countries. We hope to inspire people to learn about the global water crisis and to commit to take action for the nearly 1 billion people in the world who lack access to clean and sustainable water sources.
About Lifewater International [Page 1, 2]
“Compelled by God’s call and the global water and sanitation crisis, Lifewater International equips partner organizations and works with them to empower communities in developing countries to gain safe water, adequate sanitation, effective hygiene, and the knowledge of Jesus’ love.” (www.lifewater.org)
What do they do?
Lifewater International has developed three program areas: Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). The following things that they do fall under one or more of the above categories:
- WASH promotion in various communities
- Well Drilling
- Sanitation: Latrines
- Hand Pump Repair
- Community Health through Hygiene
- Effective Community Development
- Water Treatment
- WASH in Schools
A Lifewater “project” consists of the implementation of one or more WASH programs with a national in-country partner organization.
How do they do it?
- Lifewater works with and trains in-country partner organizations to cultivate innovative, culturally appropriate and holistic WASH interventions. These partner organizations then are equipped to work in their own communities in one or more WASH programs.
- A holistic approach: Lifewater seeks to do transformational development with WASH programs in a community addressing all levels of poverty including spiritual, physical, emotional, and social.
- Lifewater engages communities with participatory development methods. This means that their strategies empower communities members and engages them as project decision makers, implementers, and evaluators - not simply bystanders who have no involvement in their own development.
- Once the community has a vision for change, Lifewater and its partners work to empower the community to implement these changes and to share their new knowledge and skills with neighboring communities.
